In my 17 years of teaching editing in Ryerson University’s Publishing Program, Claire Horsnell was one of the most impressive students I had in my class.
Coordinator of the Publishing Program, Ryerson University,
After I defended my PhD thesis, Claire helped me with the process of restructuring and polishing my manuscript to prepare it for publication. Her suggestions (always made tactfully!) made the text flow really well—I feel as though my argument is much clearer now!
Dr. Archana Rampure
Author, Doctors in the Darkness: Reading Race, Gender, and History in the Popular Medical Romance(under review)
I have had the pleasure of using the editorial services of Claire over the past few years for several different academic projects. In all these projects, Claire has been a rock providing timely and expert advice in a calm manner. She also has the requisite academic background and editorial knowledge to anticipate editorial requirements that may arise and provides various options in order to help the author maintain the academic integrity of the project under revision. Having used other academic editors, I can state without reservation that Claire is the best I have ever worked with and I would (and do) recommend her editorial expertise without hesitation.
Dr. Eve Haque
Assistant Professor, University of York
I’m proud to say that Claire is one of our best contributors – a go-to writer who’s very talented when it comes to turning a phrase, files flawless copy and never pushes deadline. She pitches compelling content, has a firm understanding of the style, length and tone of an article regardless of what section it’s in, and she pursues stories on her own with little need for editorial guidance. On top of all this, she’s got a fantastically dry sense of humour that makes her fun to work with. If Claire was a movie she’d rate five stars!
Editor-in-Chief, Rue Morgue magazine
Claire Horsnell provided invaluable editorial assistance at various points and in a range of different ways as I was preparing my manuscript for publication with a major academic press. Claire helped with substantive and structural edits on one of the chapters. Her specialized knowledge of English literature meant that she was able to give clear-sighted expert advice. She was particularly helpful in providing an objective view of how to best organize the flow of ideas and improve the logical coherence of the chapter’s argument. Her comments on my work were perceptive and her advice was easy to implement. Claire also assisted me with seeking the necessary permissions to quote material and with following copyright laws. She was, moreover, incredibly helpful when it came to compiling and organizing the extremely lengthy bibliography for the book. She provided advice about the Harvard citation style, proofread my bibliography, and compiled missing information from the references. Claire completed all work on my manuscript promptly and thoroughly. I would not hesitate to call on her again for any future work and am very grateful for all the help that she gave me.
